I am not so sure that "anti-Catholicism" is on display here as much as is "anti-Catholic Hierachy" sentiments. I may not be correct, but if I am, the hierarchy has no one to blame but itself.

A good observation, especially since the Archbishop could be interpreted as saying "you're unfair to us, why aren't you unfair to everyone else? go pick on the Rabbis."

On the other hand, Dowd's column is simply vile (did you read it - the Pope was a Nazi, etc) and why did the article on the Franciscan, which I posted here http://tomfaranda.typepad.com/folly/2009/10/a-mother-her-sick-son-and-the-priestfather.html
get put on page, 1, above the fold? That was the biggest news story of the day?
