Not that Democrat Party fealty to Unions - and vice versa - is a news flash.
In this interesting and quick read column, Krauthammer mentions the union actions in Wisconsin to forestall a reduction of union power. Of course, it was republicans in Wisconsin taking that action.
What Krauthammer doesn't mention is that virtually the same action was taken shortly thereafter in Massachusetts (and for the same budgetary reasons as Wisconsin), with no more then a lip service outcry from the public service unions. No seizing buildings, no court action, etc. The difference was - party loyalty. It was democrat politicians in Massachusetts taking the action, not evil republicans.
Actually the bill passed in Massachusetts was not "virtually the same action" as taken in Wisconsin. The Massachusetts bill only pertains to employee health insurance and stipulates that localities can impose their own conditions only if the collective bargaining process with the unions fails. This is quite different from the Wisconsin law both in substance and in tone.
