He has done all this with the quiet, constant grace of Joe DiMaggio. On a day when the Yankees officially celebrated their past, it seemed as good a time as any to celebrate the fact that Rivera is an essential part of the present for the Yankees, the old-timer out of the bullpen still pitching the way he did when he was young.
