It's midday and Brigid is here. I am tired (but not exhausted - more like the chemo fatigue I felt with the RICE protocol). My cell levels are low - white blood cells almost to zero, platelets at 44. And there's a metallic taste in my mouth.
This is all as expected. When my platelets go below 20, they'll give me a platelet transfusion. In four days (transplant plus 5) I'll be given some meds to stimulate the stem cells to start producing white blood cells.
Otherwise, that's it! Not bad at all. Hard to believe that tomorrow will be the tenth day I will have been here.
The report from the home front is encouraging. Quote from Brigid: "The boys are doing very well, helping their Mom, getting along very well. Joe helps on technical things, Tim is getting very good at making cookies, tea, and hot chocolate. Helping me put the car in the garage. Very sweet things. He does spar with his grandmother, though."
Yeah, that's Tim.
