As all Christmas's should be, it was a great day. It started later then we expected, at 7:18AM when Tim came in (he announced the time) and told us "there were a lot of presents".
We'd been up until almost 3AM. Brigid went with Tim to the back room and there was a very large box in the "Mom" section, with a sign on top of it saying "Pick up your Chinchilla at Choice Pets." Believe me, not my idea.
It looks like Trinity the guinea pig will have a roommate in an adjoining cage.
Joe was up a few moments later and the present-opening began in earnest. The only thing Joe had wanted was something called an MR2 spyder paintgun (see below), and Santa didn't disappoint. He also got a number of other things to go with his current passion - paintballing - like a camouflaged blind.
Tim meanwhile received quite a number of the gifts he'd asked Santa for in an email (although not the motor scooter, ATV, etc), such as the O'Doul's non-alcoholic beer, as well as several nice things he hadn't asked for. Especially a beautiful sleeping bag which he loves.
Brigid will get her Chinchilla tomorrow (the boys are pleased) and amongst other things she got a lantern for going camping, new binoculars (to replace the one Joe lost when he was in Washington last year!) from the boys, and lots of little items.
I did well, getting lots of shirts, and a marvelous headlamp (also see below). Also got a folding hunting knife, which I can't see using, since I don't hunt. Looks cool, though.
I guess if there was any theme to this year's gifts, it was camping (and raising a Chinchilla).
We then picked up Grandma, headed to Church, and generally had a quiet day. With the exception of the boys firing off several hundred paintballs with Joe's new gun, as well at Tim's.
We will pick up the Chinchilla tomorrow. In England, the day after Christmas is called Boxing Day, and is a Holiday.
Here are some pictures from today. As usual Tim is photogenic and it's a struggle getting Joe to give us a smile for the camera.
Here's the paintball gun
The boys both check it out
Tim likes his new "camo" shirt
Note the O'Douls! And the slippers
A couple of shots of Brigid - that's her camping lantern in the first picture -
Don't you think my headlamp gives me a kind of mystical, saintly aura?
