Nor'easter results in spectacle at Croton Dam and on the Croton river

The Croton dam is far and away the most impressive feature of my town of Croton-on-Hudson. Built at the end of the 19th century, it is the second largest hand hewn masonry structure in the world. Go here for the history and to see what the dam usually looks like:

The rain Sunday and Monday resulted in a spectacular show of nature for anyone who thought to check out the dam, and the usually slow moving Croton river. Here are some pictures, taken Monday between 5 and 7 o'clock in the evening.

Sarah Costa and Kathleen Gagnon were also on top of the dam. They'd scootered over when I left a voice mail at Kathleen's house that the dam was worth a visit. The girls are looking damp!

Wow Tom you really captured it. I went out there on Tuesday and it was still pretty impressive.

Great pictures. You really captured that day. I live across Route 129 from 'the car in the river'. I still remember that morning, taking a look out of our dining room window to see how the river was doing, and seeing that car. It sure woke me up. I hope your treatments have worked out for you.
