As a freshman at Stepinac, the first practice (He had done a four day "mini-camp" in July). It seems to have gone well - all running and push-up/sit-up/type exercises. There were about 55 boys out for the freshman team, but Tim thinks the number will quickly drop. Tomorrow they go to two-a-days. We get him there at 8:15 and pick him up at 3:30 (We are car pooling with two other families).
The Stepinac football program is excellent -one of the best in the tri-state area. Last year the varsity was 12-0 and the JV won their division.
Here's a bit about the varsity, from the Lohud newpaper/blog yesterday. Check the SIZE of the offensive line.
Even with left guard still open, O’Donnell believes this is the biggest line he’s ever had, and that Pomposello — only a junior — is the program’s next major Division I prospect.
That's a college-sized line. And the returning featured running back already has offers from two colleges (Yale and Bryant - so he's pretty bright guy also).
Tim is highly motivated - here he is in the gym a few months ago, Report from the gym - Tim squats 300 pounds and he's gotten stronger since then.
Most importantly, Tim understands that he must perform academically to stay with the football.
