And maybe the term "tragedy" is also inappropriate. How about something like "terror attack"?

He'd already used the term tragedy, the day of the attack, and I thought that was OK. But it was time to move on & give the more accurate definition/explanation.
"Terror Attack"
Noun, 1. terrorist attack - a surprise attack involving the deliberate use of violence against civilians in the hope of attaining political or religious aims ...

In the very same speech that The Folly excerpted above, the President used the words "terrorist" and "terrorized". For some it is apparent that no arrangement of words issued by this President are satisfactory.
