I didn't even know there was an election in Colombia, but looks like the right guy won - and 54-41, it wasn't close.
Ivan Duque, a 41-year-old lawyer who has spent much of his working life in Washington policy circles, was elected president on Sunday in a vote in which Colombians were presented with two starkly different approaches for modernizing the country.
Mr. Duque, a market-friendly conservative who pledges to loosen regulations for businesses and aggressively fight the drug trade, won nearly 10.1 million votes, or 54% of the total, with 97% of all voting stations reporting. His rival, Gustavo Petro, 58, a former guerrilla and ex-mayor of Bogotá who wanted a bigger role for the state in the economy, took nearly 7.8 million votes, or 41.7%.
