So, as they say in school let's do a "compare and contrast" with tomorrow's inauguration. No doubt all the media outlets will be looking for violent demonstrations. There will be 26,000 armed National Guard there.

I guess the out-going President of the United States called for those miscreants to come to Washington in 2017. Or, maybe it was the defeated candidate for president. There are 26,000 National Guard troops in Washington today because the current President of the United States encouraged an overthrow of the government. There's no comparison here.

Right. Overthrow. Here's the quote $$$ quote from the charge sheet:
"if you don't fight like hell you're not going to have a country anymore."
I could show you similar statements from many politicians of both parties over the years.
He also said:
"I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard."
To point out that Trump was his usual bloviating, blowhard self is one thing; to suggest he called for the overthrow of the government is quite another.

One C.Y.A. quote containing the word “peacefully” does not make up for the many more speeches and tweets containing inflammatory rhetoric which inspired Trump’s supporters to storm the Capitol. For months he has been trying to overturn the lawful, democratic election of the leader of our government. After his rally, filled with combative oratory by speakers, Trump sent his agents to the Capitol where they attacked the congress, causing the legislators to flee and with some Trump supporters calling for the execution of the President of the Senate (Pence) and the Speaker of the House. I call that trying to overthrow the government. And, as his agents are now being arrested they are saying they are doing what Trump told them to do. Bloviating does have consequences. Just ask Mitch McConnell.

Oh come on. politicians use inflammatory and warlike rhetoric all the time. "If they bring a knife, we bring a gun" - Barack Obama. Plenty of other examples.
