Rob Astorino, former Westchester County Executive, and who ran against Cuomo for Governor in 2014. A solid guy - one of the very few members of either of the two major NY parties who I have voted for.
Who can disagree with this PR (most of my Democrat Party friends will disagree of course)? Incredibly, even his own Party is after Cuomo after the revelations of the COVID death cover up in NY nursing homes.
For the first time, the Cuomo administration has admitted to covering up the nursing home scandal that resulted in the deaths of over 15,000 seniors. Read it here: Cuomo Coverup.
Andrew Cuomo's March 25th Executive Order forced ill-equipped and vulnerable nursing homes to admit and re-admit Covid-infected patients. In the 11 months to follow, over 15,000 seniors lost their lives. For nearly as long, the governor and his administration covered this up, obfuscated and blamed others. They finally admitted yesterday, to a group of Democrat lawmakers, that they did so because they feared federal prosecution. This is a criminal cover up that needs to be investigated immediately and thankfully there is now bipartisan support for such an investigation.
New York has had the worst Covid response:
- Most deaths per-capita in the world
- Most job losses in the nation
- Tens of thousands of businesses destroyed
- Botched vaccine rollout
- Failure to use hundreds of empty beds at USS Comfort and Javits Center
- Many schools still not open
And while Cuomo was covering up his complicity in the deaths of 15,000 seniors, he was awarded an Emmy, wrote a book on "leadership," raised millions in campaign cash and bathed in the national media's praise.
There needs to be a full-scale investigation and Cuomo and others need to be held accountable. But for the good of the people of New York State, he needs to step aside. He needs to resign. Please share this message if you agree.
