Got to this off the Stepinac twitter feed - about the only thing on twitter (it's mostly a sewer) that I follow.
Adrian Griffin Jr., the No. 7-ranked senior in the nation
And this is off lohud - Stepinac is a high school basketball powerhouse (not exactly my sport). Hit this link for the whole story
Griffin has worked out and taken remote classes with Stepinac since the beginning of the school year, but he's currently recovering from a recent ankle injury. The timeline of the season, which is currently scheduled to run until the end of March, and current state travel restrictions would appear to put his senior season in jeopardy.
Coach Pat Massaroni said Griffin has yet to make a final decision and has held out hope his star will return.
"He is still rehabbing a previous injury before he returns to practice and play with the team," Massaroni said at practice Tuesday. “We have his practice gear and uniforms ready for when he returns back on the court with us."
Stepinac — like the rest of Westchester's Catholic school basketball and hockey programs — currently have few options to schedule games. New York City has yet to make a decision on the return of high-risk sports, meaning the Crusaders have just four possible opponents at the moment: Iona Prep, Kennedy Catholic, Sacred Heart and Salesian.
Griffin is a five-star recruit ranked No. 7 in the Class of 2021 by 247 Sports, making him the area's top boys basketball recruit since Peekskill's Elton Brand in 1997.
