Was fascinating. While I confess that he was a great writer at his best - or even less than his best - I much preferred Graham Greene, Hermann Hesse or Faulkner when reading a novel (but I rarely read novels so ...).
But the three part, six hour series is splendid. What a life the guy had!
The third part of the series reminded me of what it must be like watching a slow motion train wreck. The drinking, the crashed marriages and relationships, the multiple head injuries - all added up to - well, a horrid end.
Well worth watching - it is on PBS channels and available to view on their website.
They did not include his communist connections.

Alicia it was mentioned when as a correspondent in Spain during their civil war he was very sympathetic to the loyalists, backed by Stalin and the communist volunteers. I believe it was mentioned at other points also, but ultimately he was very disenchanted with communism and with Castro. As the series makes bery clear, Hemingway was a very flawed person.
Here's an article on his sympathies - https://www.nytimes.com/2017/03/24/books/review/the-great-american-novelist-who-spied-for-the-soviets.html
