Background - Josie on return from Amsterdam and Germany a month ago was lavish in praising Bols Genever a gin like precursor to gin. But very difficult to get in the US.
So I ordered it a month ago through one of the two local liquor stores we frequent. Important to have two stores in case one runs out. Anyway the bottle finally arrived yesterday and I went to pick it up along with replenishing some other supplies. My mistake - I put the bag with all three of them on the back seat of the Edge. Got home, opened the back door and Kaput. The other two bottles did not tumble out, only the Genever.
Ugh. I went back to the store immediately (after reporting to Brigid) to re-order and the manager told me to bring back the bottle top and they would try to get the bottle replaced or at least reduced in cost. Very nice of them to make the effort. So we are at least momentarily out about $50, but more importantly it's likely to be a month before a replacement arrives.
Here are the pix of this sad story. A little short term suffering; good for the soul.
