If you hit the link below there is a short slide show of six Catholics who've won gold - their brief comments on their faith. The picture is Sydney McLaughlin, who broke her own world record (400m hurdles)at the Olympics, at the age of 21 and is quoted.
And here is an article/interview with swimmer Katie Ledecky - from 2016 - on her faith. She has been in three Olympics and so far won 10 medals. She is 24 years old and plans on competing in the next Olympics.
Tom, all of those commentaries by the Olympians are a real source of pride for Catholics and I believe it wouldn't be a bad idea to bring to the CCD parents to show them how valuable this journey is for their children and the rock faith can be for their kids if they stick with it and show their kids by their example that being part of a church family or school will never let them down. Maybe bring this up at the next PC meeting. These families are the lifeblood of the church. Let's give them a reason to stay active in the faith by quoting these athletes.
